Developed by the Center for Applied Cognitive Studies, the WorkPlace Big Five Profile is based on more than twenty years of brain and personality research. This assessment is a state-of-the-art tool focused on the Five-Factor Model of Personality.
Since 1986, authors Pierce J. Howard, Ph.D., Managing Director, Research and Development and Jane Mitchell Howard, M.B.A., Managing Director, Programs, for the Center for Applied Cognitive Studies, have specialized in organizational development, consulting, and assessment.
More than 70,000 individuals have taken the “Big 5” in order to focus on the workplace and help set specific goals for individual work or for coaching. Scores are on a continuum and are informative, not labeling or threatening.
The Workplace Big 5 Profile is also a great tool to use with teams. Individual scores are compared in a team training workshop, an environment that is safe for participants to explore their own and their colleagues’ comfort and discomfort zones. This professionally facilitated forum helps reduce the all-too-common tendency to assign negative motives, and it increases positive collaboration.
What is the Five-Factor Model of Personality?
The WorkPlace Big Five Profile™ 4.0 is a personality assessment based on the Five-Factor Model of Personality, the current best-practices standard and the primary means for understanding and interpreting personality by psychologists.
With only 107 questions, busy workers find the personality assessment easy to complete online in only 10 – 15 minutes.
The Big Five personality assessment’s coefficient alpha of .83 is among the highest of all assessments and in compliance with all International Test Commission standards.
